If I Were Postmaster General

This is the perspective of Thomas Padlan-Malm only. In no form is it intended to represent any position or viewpoint of the United States Postal Service, the American Postal Workers Union, the United States Government, or any other party or individual.

What Might Have Been If They Listened?

Thomas Padlan-Malm, candidate for the Presidency of the American Postal Workers Union, shares the work he has done between 2019 and 2024 to preserve the values and importance of American mail delivery. Now, he discusses the best practices in strategic planning as compared to the choices of the Postal Board of Governors between 2019 and 2024. He emphasizes that most who follow austerity as their direction learn (with great pain) that austerity is never a good strategy.

Thomas Padlan-Malm discusses what he would do differently if he were Postmaster General. He demonstrates the differences between the working plans of 4% of all organizations that meet objectives against the standard "crap shoot" practices of most businesses.

The MISSION POSSIBLE link below shares the formal plan that was pushed away in January 2023 by the Postal Board of Governors.

"Go away, kid. You bother me."

Thomas said the letter he received on behalf of Chairman Roman Martinez felt a bit like W.C. Fields might have dictated it.

In December 2022, after Delivering for America's second year of losses, Thomas wrote to the third Chairperson of the Postal Board of Governors to preside after Mr. Louis DeJoy became Postmaster General. As he began the ten-year plan's third year, Chairman Roman Martinez announced that there would be losses in the third year, too. In fact, he advised that breakeven might take all ten years of the plan. The third year was when Delivering for America projected its breakeven.

In December 2022, I offered Chairperson Martinez an alternate plan. He declined.
